Check out Google’s new search interface and try it for yourself
Dec 7th
I came across a post the other day about a new Google Interface in development and tried it out for myself. I have to say, it’s not bad. If you look at the screenshots below, you’ll see that the home page is using a bit brighter colors, as well as some subtle gradients, and the colorizing of the input buttons instead of the standard gray. The differences on the search results page are obvious. Again, the colors and gradients, as well as a strong font in the search box and additional search options on the left side of your results. The screenshots below have the old interface on the left and the new interface on the right.

Could the new Google Chrome OS spell the end of the Desktop PC as we know it?
Nov 22nd
Maybe, but doubtful I think. But there are people that are saying this. This past week, Google released the source code for their new Chrome OS (called Chromium while still in development). The OS is still in development, expected to be released next year, but is Google’s “attempt to re-think what operating systems should be.” (source: The Official Google Blog)

According to Google, Bing is not a REAL search engine!
Jun 10th
There has been a lot of talk and advertisement lately about Bing – The New Search Engine from Microsoft. I have yet to try it out to see how it works, as I never used Microsoft’s Live Search. I’d be interested to know what people have used it are thinking about it. If you have used Bing, how do you like it? If you are a web site or blog owner, how do your rankings compare to those of google or yahoo for the same queries? Share with others in the comments. Once I have time to do some research on it I will certainly share my findings.

Make Money Online. Get paid to search the Internet with Scour.com
May 16th
I recently came across a new search engine that actually pays users for doing what you do every day, searching the internet. It’s called Scour.com. The way it works is that you earn one point for every search that you make, plus one point for voting, and one for commenting. Once you have accumulated a certain amount of points, you can cash out for a $25, $50, or $100.
Scour.com is called a “social search engine”. When the search results are displayed, you can vote the results either up or down, thus affecting the the results the next time someone makes the same search as you. Commenting on results can also provide information about the result to future searchers as well. In addition to the points you can earn searching, voting, and commenting, you can also earn 25% of the points from people you refer to Scour.com.

Does a Shared/Unique IP Address Affect my Search Engine Ranking?
Apr 4th
A question I’m often asked at work (tech support/sales for a major internet software company) by other tech support reps is, “Does having a shared hosting IP affect Search Engine Ranking?” Often times they are asking, because our customers are asking them, and for whatever reason, I’m considered the resident SEO expert for my team. I’ll admit I do know SEO, but not sure if I’m quite at the point where I would consider myself an “expert” per se. Anyways, it’s nice to get the compliment.
The long and short of this answer is “No! Having a shared IP address will not adversely affect your search engine ranking.”
The flip side to this question is “Will having a dedicated/unique IP address help my search engine ranking?” Again, the answer to this question is a resounding “No! Having a dedicated IP address will not give you a boost in the search engine rankings.”
